JBU Alumni Board
2006 - 2010
Pat Walker ’72
Alumni Board Member
I am a 1972 graduate. My home is in Kansas City, KS. I have two children
and one of them, Rachel, is currently at JBU as a student. My son,
Joe, is in the Air Force. My grandmother, my aunt, my sister, my brother,
and my cousin and his wife went to JBU, also.
I believe the professors made a huge difference in the type of education
I received compared to friends of mine that went to other colleges.
They showed us that they truly cared about us and did all they could
to make us feel at home and help us learn the necessary information
to be successful. Our "hands-on" education helped me do
my best and encouraged me to help others.
I treasure all the friends I made while at JBU and those I have met
at Homecomings and other events since then. There is a Christian fellowship
that exists between JBU alumni and it is very exciting to gather every
year and share what Christ is doing in our lives or to ask for prayer.
We are more like brothers and sisters than friends. (Of course, we
ARE brothers and sisters in the LORD.)
I've taught children in grades 1 - 8 during an 18 year period,
and was an elementary counselor for the past 15 years. I retired in
May of 2005 and became a Real Estate agent with Reece & Nichols,
Roberts in September, with my husband, Bud. Recently, I accepted a
position as a counselor, part time, in the Topeka Public School system.
I have been an officer in Kansas Counseling Association and presented
many workshops at our conventions.
I would like to encourage all alumni to get involved and feel free
to call me or e-mail me anytime with suggestions or questions. I would
be happy to help with your events or questions, in any way possible.
