JBU Alumni Board
2004 - 2005
Dawn Stanford ’92
Alumni Board Member
For me, JBU was not just a place to receive my education and move on in life but
it was a place where relationships impacted my life. My professors were all very
real and approachable and my advisor, Dr. Emilio Amigo, especially stands out in
my mind.
Classes with him were challenging academically, spiritually impacting and emotionally
stimulating. On a practical level, I learned from Dr. Amigo not to succumb to mediocrity;
rather, he always pushed us to excellence - something I apply in my life today.
Spiritually, God gave me a heart of ministry to serve Him. I am thankful for the
privilege of listening to excellent chapel speakers such as Brennan Manning, Tony
Campolo, Ken Davis, and many others. Still to this day the messages of forgiveness,
grace, “sheep”, marriage, healing, and missions are impacting my life.
Since graduating, I have worked as an Admissions Counselor for JBU, married Rodney
Stanford from Longview, Texas, served as the youth minister for our church in Texas
for 5 ½ years, became the mother of two beautiful daughters, Rebecca and
Rachel Joy, moved to Colorado, and I am currently loving my position as a Senior
Sales Director for Mary Kay.
I love JBU and want to give back in anyway that I possibly can to see the university
advance and grow. It has been disturbing for me to hear that only a small percentage
of alumni give back or are involved with JBU after they graduate. I want to do whatever
I can as an alumni board member to positively influence my classmates and all alumni
to be involved with JBU. I would like to hear any input that you may have and am
available to be contacted!
